Belated Happy New Years

Whoever invented confetti clearly never had to clean it up! Katelyn and Emma enjoyed watching the ball drop in New York, but none of us made it to midnight central time.

Have cabin, and a lot of work...

We finally closed on the cabin at the end of the year, and now we have started the destruction before the construction, Many internal walls are coming down, doors moving, windows being replaced and a whole kitchen replacement. Plus rewiring the whole place, and so the list goes on.

The 50 degrees of frost we have been living through has not been conducive of much progress, but plans have been finalized and next weekend we will continue the destruction unabated.

We look out of the window occasionally to remind ourselves why we bought the place, it certainly wasn't for the cabin, but you cant beat the view (once the snow and ice melts). the half falling down shack on the right of the picture is the future kayak and canoe store that needs a lot of TLC.

Too Many Social Network Sites?

I consider myself in the 5% of contributors that keep most social networking sites active.
That said I am leting some activities die down.
Facebook while extensively used is become a considerable irritant, beyond being yet another method of exchanging messages I am deriving little value from it other than getting back in touch with distant friends and relative with whom I have lost contact.
LinkedIn I use as an alternative way of maintaining my professional contacts.
Flickr I use to upload and share all my photographs.
And this blog I use for the majority of social and professional commentary.
I have become more active recently with a local group of Inland Sea Kayakers who have established a group website, which includes forums and discussions. IT weill be interestiung to see if a group of people numbering less than 100 can sustain an active social networking site given the statistics of 5% of people contributing.

The effect of disk vibration

Hat tip to Troy for pointing this out.
